took the little one on his first ride today. i’m not sure who was more excited, me or him. i do know his mom was a wreck, she definitely wasn’t ready for it…
since it was his first ride, i didn’t want to go too far, and definitely not in traffic. so we took a quick spin around the ‘hood. when we got back, i shut the bike off and all he could say was, “dad, i’ve been trying to tell you i want to keep riding.” not wanting to disappoint, i fired the bike up and off we went again.
he was thrilled and can’t wait for his next ride - tomorrow according to his wishes!!
Just too much fun! I found myself sitting here smiling the whole time remembering my first ride. I wasn't much older if at all. Thanks mom you rock! Dad you kick ass too. So when does he get his first bike? :)

Ahh, our first rides. Was it on the back of our aunts boyfriends Harley, was it the three-wheel homemade jalopy in Dinwiddie or was it on the Briggs and Stratton minibike in England? Alex you can have your dad's bike...
ReplyDeleteit's really great when our kids are little and love our great loves as well,,,my daughter could be counted on for a ride at that age, but once she became a pre teen and teen...that was another story...and it was the only transportation we had...man that was a pain...
ReplyDeleteLOL
Your boy is really cute...

ahhh, those memories... each and every one special in its own way... who would have known taking someone on their first ride could stir up sooooo many great memories?? now, about offering my bike up to him - we need to talk!!!
