looking forward to some time in the saddle…

still around and riding – just nothing exciting lately. mostly trips around town running errands or meeting friends for lunch… the weather has been awesome lately, so the rides have been even more enjoyable.

a couple trips are starting to approach and take shape. the closest being smoke out ten coming up in two weeks… the planning and food gathering has begun. what started out five years ago as five or six people crashing at our place has grown to close to thirty people showing up for friday night festivities before heading to the smoke out on saturday.

i think we’re looking at smoking three butts this year – the most i’ve ever done at one time. looks like that second smoker is finally going to pay off!!! now we’re left with figuring what we’re going to pair up with the bbq – other than lots-o-beer…

we’ve always put together some sort of breakfast in the past. this year that will be easier since the waffle house is now open!!! i’m sure we’ll have to put some sort of breakfast together for those that don’t want to partake or can’t get up early enough to go.

the weekend after that will be heading up to dc to for rolling thunder. we’ve been up there before during rolling thunder, but this will be my first time actually taking the bike up and participating. i’ve heard it’s an extremely moving experience… i’m looking forward to it – especially since i’ll be riding with my brother.

after that, i’ll be working on a saddle sore 1000. i’ve been getting a lot of good information from a couple people that have completed ss1000s before. they’ve been sharing different strategies for completing the trip. i think i’ve determine the parameters around how ride the trip, now i just need to pick a date and route. should be a lot of fun…

soooo, over the next month or so, it looks like i’ll (finally) be putting some miles on the bike. should make up for what seems like the lack of riding at the beginning of the year…
